Jordan Corine Cruz is a Puerto Rican visual artist who creates installations and sculptures using red votive wax. Her time-based, ephemeral objects melt and transform during site-specific public performances, symbolizing survival as an ongoing political expression of endurance.
Cruz earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photography and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts. Her work has been showcased at Haul Gallery, BronxArtSpace, and PHOTOVILLE. In 2024, she was a BXMA AIM Fellow and an Artist in Residence at BronxArtSpace on Governors Island. In 2020, Cruz received the BRIO award from the Bronx Council on the Arts. In 2019, she organized and hosted “The Culture of Community: A Latinx Photo Symposium” in collaboration with El Museo del Barrio and the School of Visual Arts.
Cruz currently holds the position of Technical Director for the Department of Photography & Imaging at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she also serves as the lead instructor for the Future Imagemakers high school program. She lives and works in the Bronx, New York.
